TUESDAY, AUGUST 3, 2010 - Wounded Israeli soldier Captain Ezra Lakia was evacuated by helicopter to Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa after sustaining severe injuries by a sniper from the Lebanese Armed Forces. Unfortunately in the same incident Lt.-Col. (res.) Dov Harari, 45, from Netanya, was fatally wounded. The incident began around noon, when a force from Harari's reserve battalion entered an enclave along the border and near Kibbutz Misgav Am to conduct routine maintenance work. The soldiers had coordinated their movement beyond the fence with UNIFIL and were working to cut down a tree when shots were fired in their direction. Rambam's expertise in advanced treatment of trauma is unmatched in any center in the world. Able to deal with mass casualties, Rambam's new Trauma and Emergency Center is Israel's first emergency facility protected against conventional and chemical warfare. |
